Why Pink May Be The Perfect Colour For This Summer

With the summer in full flow, you may be looking for something new to wear that doesn’t leave you too hot on a sunny day, yet offers plenty of style and colour.
A colourful hijab may be just the thing to meet these requirements, especially if you are invited to various social gatherings with a mixed crowd of people where you want to maintain modesty but also bring plenty of joy and colour to whatever occasion it is.
For all these reasons and many more, a pink hijab may be just the thing you have been looking for.
Why We Love Pink
All over the world, pink is traditionally thought of as a feminine colour, just as blue is commonly believed to be masculine. However, this is a bit of a myth; research has shown that there is nothing hard-wired into women to prefer pink to blue.
That means you don’t need to buy into these stereotypes or look like Barbie to enjoy such a beautiful shade. You can simply enjoy pink for what it is, just as some might also love red, green or yellow. What it does mean is that if you do like pink, you can be proof that Muslim women can look great in pink as much as anyone else.
There have been some great examples of pink hijabs worn with style, although perhaps the best example should be that of Fozia Tariq, mother of the Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja. When the New Year Test match takes place in Sydney, everyone is wearing pink.
This tradition, started by former player Glenn McGrath, helps raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, a charity initially aimed at providing dedicated nurses for breast cancer sufferers in Australia, but now extending to all cancers.
While everyone who goes to the match is encouraged to wear pink, few rocked it more than Fozia in her glorious pink hijab that she first wore in 2018.
The Best Pink Garment In The House
It helped that during that match, her son made a century, so that the cameras repeatedly panned to her as she applauded each landmark. And so the statement was made. Amid all the people wearing pink shirts, ties, dresses, socks, shoes, flamingo costumes and much else, the most memorable pink outfit was a hijab.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an equally prominent pink-themed event here in Britain, or possibly the world. Even the Barbie premiere couldn’t match it. But that isn’t because nobody likes pink. Indeed, the way so many men embrace it as well shows again that there is no room for stereotypes.
Outside Sydney, therefore, it is simply about enjoying a wonderful colour that will make you stand out, perhaps even more so when you are not surrounded by thousands of other people also wearing pink.
You only have to look around and see how much of creation is filled with beautiful pinks, from flowers and blossoms to the reflection of the sun on the clouds just after sunset.
This beautiful colour is everywhere and we cannot get enough of it, so by wearing it yourself, you can help add that little bit more joy and beauty to the world.
